Have you ever wondered what Christmas is like behind bars? What does it look like, sound like or even taste like?
Christmas in prison can be incredibly difficult, as a noisy, crowded place, with a dark cloud of loneliness ready to close in on you. That must be true for many, but what might happen if you became incredibly creative? What if elements of sharing, love and hope show up at Christmas? It seems you can’t use up creativity in prison as the situation calls for maximizing your gifts and talents.
This week we have a special treat of getting a glimpse of how Christmas is spent as an AIC (Adult in Custody). In an episode of “Outside Voices”—there is a special recorded discussion with people who have experienced incarceration in Oregon, and how the holiday spirit can persevere during incarceration. Among the guest speakers you will hear from Angela, one of our long term sponsors of an Otino Waa student!
PLEASE NOTE: Set aside about 55 min. to listen to these great stories. You will not be disappointed! To maximize your time, start the recording at 4:45. You can end it at about 1:04.

COULD YOU TREAT CHRISTMAS IN PRISON JUST LIKE YOU DID WITH COVID IN PRISON?
You were so incredibly gracious with your words towards AIC during those terrible COVID years. There were so many heartfelt, encouraging notes and letters to the men and women. Could you do that again this Christmas season? Please take a minute to send Christmas cheer in a short statement – or a long one! We will make sure to include your communication in the next newsletter to the AIC.
