PRAYER: What steps can I take to lift myself and my fellow incarcerated brothers up as we seek to better ourselves in prison?
JESUS: My dear friend, I understand that you and your fellow incarcerated brothers are seeking to better yourselves, and I commend you for that desire. Here are some steps you can take to lift yourselves up.
Recognize your worth. You are a child of God and within you lies the potential for greatness. Believe in yourself and your ability to change and grow. (Psalm 139:13-15 )
Take responsibility. Accept that you cannot run away from your problems or your past. Instead, face them head on and take responsibility for your actions. This will empower you to make positive changes in your life. (Proverbs 28:13)
Use your mind. Your mind is a powerful tool. Set your mind to working on solving your life problems and teach your intellect to work for you. Refuse to be dominated by fear or negative thoughts. Instead, cultivate a positive and courageous mindset. (Romans 12:2)
Cultivate faith. Tap into the power of faith. Release your fears and allow your spiritual nature to guide you. Have faith in the presence of God within you, and let it inspire and motivate you to overcome obstacles. (Hebrews 11:1)
Show love to others. Embrace the concept of brotherhood. Treat your fellow incarcerated brothers with kindness and respect. Lift them up and encourage them on their own journeys of self-improvement. By showing love and support to others, you will also uplift yourself. (Ephesians 4:32)
Seek wisdom and guidance. Take time for solitary reflection and meditation. Connect with God and seek guidance from Him. Allow this time of communion to bring insight and strength to face the challenges ahead. (Proverbs 18:10)
JESUS: Remember, my friend, you have the power of God to transform your life. Believe in yourself, have faith, and embrace the journey of self-improvement. As you are lifted up, you will also inspire and uplift those around you. May the love and guidance of God be with you on this path of transformation.
Thank you, B. Hessel, for sharing your heart. Your dialogue with Jesus is beautifully expressed as a profound path to lean on God’s strength and power of transformation. As you said, following this path for growth allows God to not only lift you up as well as inspire others around you just as you have influenced me. I’m grateful for your insight. May the Lord bless you and keep you, Diane.
