Behind prison walls, many of our inmate sponsors find joy in creating art inspired by wildlife and nature. Most have never had the opportunity experience the amazing animals native to other countries, such as elephants, first hand. With the aid of magazines and photography, their worlds are expanded as they escape to a place of imagination. Clifford shares his thoughts behind this piece:
“The stance of this matriarch exudes power that can’t be ignored. I was impressed by the flock of birds taking flight when the matriarch went to confront the photographer. I felt the need to include ALL the birds.”
