A poem by AIC G. Ehler
This was written as a reflection of the difference between a 21 year old entering prison and now, 63 years old, anticipating release in a few short weeks.
As I contemplate,
this to tell you.
I have my ups,
And my blues.
I pray to you,
this story I sing.
Blessings and honor,
I pray it will bring.
By the word of truth,
by the power of God,
Your love has lifted me,
from out of the fog.
Of a sinful nature,
I did possess.
Your love fell on me,
Nonetheless.
You are God
of everything there is.
You make my heart
ring with bliss.
Your glory and beauty,
fill up my mind.
There is only one you,
God to find.
Earnestly, I seek you,
in the dark times and light.
You rescued me, Father,
With your great Might.
I have a house in heaven,
that you built for me.
Come now, Holy Father,
Come set us free.
Splendor and glory,
You bring to my life.
Thank you, Father,
For taking away my strife.
The mercies you have shown me,
they leave me breathless.
I am your servant, Lord,
Your love is endless.
God knew what he was doing from the very beginning.
He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those
who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son.
The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored.
We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in Him.
