In any crisis the only control we have is over our attitude. Sometimes I am forced to choose it moment by moment. When I watch the news, I am reminded how egocentric we are as humans. We are told to choose leaders because of how it will affect “me”. We are told how many are infected and dying in our state and country. It is very hard to listen to everyone being blamed for the work of a virus. There is little mention of the suffering worldwide. I think of my friends and family on the other side of the world and wonder if their leaders are busy blaming us for their woes as well. While some cry for mutiny others just spew blame, further separating us.
Individuality dies the moment you enter prison
Yet, something wonderful has happened
Here in prison, social distancing is a pipe dream as we live day-to-day on top of each other. Individuality dies the moment you enter prison and now we wear masks everywhere we go, which lessens individuality even more. Yet, something wonderful has happened. We are now forced to gaze into each other’s eyes. We are learning to see in ways we never had before. I see beauty all around me. I choose to focus on sound, color, smell, taste and because touch is so rare, it intensifies the experience 100 times over. The feel of a hand on the shoulder can heal the heart.
He is everywhere if you just look with determined eyes
I see the hand of God so many times in a day. I see Him in the shades of the eyes around me, the fragrance of Him in the rain and the salt of Him in the taste of tears. He is everywhere if you just look with determined eyes. Maybe the restrictions of COVID-19 can be used to reveal the things He blesses us with each day. I pray the isolation and social distancing space is filled with the richness of Him.
With him there is no social distance, isolation, or a mask. He has already won!!! NO FEAR!!! We have a COVID FREE ETERNITY!
Revelation 21:4
And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
