Notes from two Inmate Artists

This piece is a representation of a place I would like to be that is peaceful and serene, to get away from whatever is going on in my life and just relax. I am an outdoor person, and prison complicates that experience right now. Art is a release and always gives permission to go to those places I dream of.

This piece came to me one night when I was watching a Nat. Geo. show. There was this young bear standing in the middle of a river trying to figure out which way he should jump to catch a salmon. They were swimming all around him. He would first jump one way, then the next, and still never came up with his dinner. In over 5 minutes he did not stop trying. As I watched this, I wondered what would his face look like as an art piece.? I wanted this to just bring a smile to your face as it does mine.
