The Quickest Path to Joy – Thankfulness

“The essence of all beautiful art,
all great art, is gratitude.”

Friedrich Nietzsche

by Dale Russell

Over the years the inmate art that finds its way to us is digitized to create a permanent record and be able to reproduce it as needed. You need a skilled person to take on that task. You need dedication, interest in art, the artists and commitment to the projects within Visions of Hope.

Tina is an artist, photographer, VOH board member and a team participant of two trips to Otino Waa Children’s Village, Uganda.  She is also well known to the artists of Snake River Correctional Institution. A couple of years ago she had knee replacement and when the artists found out, they decided to create something dedicated to her.  Here is a get-well card that blessed her recovery and demonstrated the love and appreciation the artists have for her.

Things to note:

  • It was the left knee that needed healing and the prayers of the artists.
  • The tin man represents the strong influence Tina has in the artist’s lives.
  • Elements in the picture represent all the artist’s styles.
  • See the shining point on the shoulder? Tina is a star to them.
  • The oil cans represent the artists – some have given their prayers – others ready to do the same.
  • See the sunlight? God’s direction and who he chooses to include in the story.
  • Each artist had written words of appreciation inside.

Keep your eyes open, hold tight to your convictions,

give it all you’ve got, be resolute, and love without stopping.”

1 Corinthians 16:14
